Cortek: strength and beauty together.

Cortek designs and supplies light gauge steel framing for residential and commercial construction. When SBS Group became Cortek, we built the brand and a website with the same clean industrial lines as the product.

The challenge

What needed to change.

Cortek designs and supplies light gauge steel framing for residential and commercial construction projects. The business had been operating as SBS Group, and the decision to rebrand as Cortek meant starting again with the name, the identity and the way the company presented itself online. Nothing from the old identity could simply be carried across.

Cortek needed a brand developed from the ground up and a gallery website designed to showcase its steel framing products, one that reflected the sleek industrial look of the product and the scope of the large projects the team works on, so that potential future clients saw the calibre of the company at a glance.

Approach

How the work took shape.

The brand came first. Before any page was designed we developed the Cortek identity, drawing on the qualities of the product itself: strength, reliability and a clean industrial beauty that does not need decoration. The visual language had to work everywhere the business appears, from documents and signage to the website, so the website design grew out of the brand rather than the other way around.

The website was conceived as a lead generating marketing tool, so it had to appeal to potential new Cortek clients both visually and through ease of navigation. The design draws on the impressive visual scope of past project imagery, complemented by the sleek industrial logo and colour palette of the Cortek brand.

Structure and navigation were planned so a prospective client could move from a project that resembled their own to a conversation with Cortek in as few steps as possible.

The shift

The product was already the best advertisement Cortek had, so the website simply got out of its way.
