Uptain is a non-bank lender providing flexible and tailored loans for business owners so you can obtain your goals.
The challenge
As a brand new startup non-bank lender, Uptain had a mission to utilise AI technology to facilitate a fast approved loan designed for business owners. The process is quick, simple and easy, and the flexible loan products can be accessed without excessive paperwork.
It was our job to deliver this message, and demonstrate the simplicity of the approval process to drive applications, creating a win for Uptain and a win for small businesses.
Approach
The saturated lending market threw up several challenges which we needed to help address in the new website. One key challenge was to reduce the application documents required through the website, and expedite the process for business owners.
We examined the workflow of different user groups: customers, mortgage brokers and investors. Then our UX team worked to develop the ideal sitemap for the new website, so that each group had a clear path from the homepage to the information that mattered to them.
After wireframing and prototyping, we began rolling out responsive designs across mobile and desktop. The designs prioritised attention on the key messages of cheaper rates, fast approval timeframes, fewer documents required, and easy to use systems.
We also decided that Uptain should look nothing like a bank. A vibrant palette and hand drawn assets were chosen to set the brand apart from corporate lenders, and a loan repayment calculator was planned in to show users their borrowing potential and prompt an enquiry before they had read a page of terms.

The work
The new Uptain website can be found at uptain.com.au. The design shines a light on the different types of available loans and the simple application process, with the key messages of cheaper rates, fast approval and fewer documents carried through every page. A handy loan repayment calculator helps show users their borrowing potential and drive enquiries.
Now, when business owners apply to Uptain, their powerful AI technology helps advise the most suitable, tailored loan solution, without the need to wait weeks to hear from the big banks. The website helps reduce pain and paperwork for both the end user and the core business.
The application flow asks only for what is needed, which is the point of the whole exercise. It is a win on both sides.
Its vibrant design and hand drawn assets help it to stand apart from corporate lenders and banks, on every screen size. Whether a business owner first meets Uptain on a phone or a desktop, the same colours, illustrations and plain language greet them, and the loan products and application process are never more than a tap away, however they arrive.
