The challenge

What needed to change.

Maxcon is a family-owned and operated company, delivering exceptional high-rise commercial construction including hotels and office buildings. Whilst their projects were incredible, their website left a lot to be desired.

For a premium construction brand, the website is often the first thing a prospective client sees, and this one was not doing the projects justice.

Maxcon was yet another example of a company with amazing projects that were being let down by a sub-standard website. Our challenge was to create a website that would be as visually striking as their projects, and find a way for visitors to easily browse projects similar in scale and style to their prospective project.

The comparison between the old website and the new one shows how far it had to come.

Approach

How the work took shape.

During the discovery phase, we worked hard on the strategy to tease out meaningful information that would be important to prospective clients, and how to impressively communicate this via design.

The answer was to let the projects do the talking, and to organise them so a visitor could move quickly to the work most like their own.

Together we wire-framed and designed a user experience that showcases Maxcon’s serious capabilities and meticulous standards in construction.

Every project page follows the same structure, photography first and detail after, so the experience holds together whether a visitor is on a desktop or moving between project pages on a phone. The visual search tool came out of that thinking.

The shift

Full screen photography and a visual search let prospective clients find the project that looks like theirs.
