01Architecture shaped around the requirement.
The right AWS design depends on how the application works, where data moves, who needs access and what happens when demand changes. We can help translate those requirements into a practical cloud architecture, including account structure, network boundaries, environments, deployment paths and service responsibilities. We document the important decisions so internal teams and future delivery partners can understand why the environment is structured in a particular way. This gives the organisation a stronger basis for governance and future change.
02Application hosting and modernisation.
AWS supports several ways to run digital applications, from managed application services and virtual compute to containers and serverless functions. We select the approach according to the application rather than forcing every workload into the same pattern. For an existing application, we can assess where architecture or deployment choices are limiting reliability, release confidence or maintainability. For a new application, we can design the hosting model alongside the application architecture so infrastructure and code work together from the beginning.
03APIs, integrations and event flows.
Complex digital systems often depend on data moving between websites, commerce platforms, customer systems, operational software and external services. AWS provides building blocks for APIs, queues, events and workflow orchestration that can help these connections operate more reliably. We can design the integration layer, define how systems exchange information and implement the controls needed for validation, failure handling and visibility. This is especially useful when a website or application is only one part of a wider business process.
04Data storage and managed databases.
Different information needs different storage patterns. Transactional records, documents, files, analytical data and temporary application state should not automatically share one database. We can help select and configure appropriate AWS storage and database services according to access patterns, recovery requirements and operational responsibility. We also consider how data enters the environment, where it is held, how it is protected and how it can be moved if the organisation changes direction. This keeps technical decisions connected to governance and ownership.
05Identity, security and governance.
Cloud security begins with clear access boundaries and sensible defaults. We can help structure roles, permissions, secrets, environment separation and application access so people and systems receive only the access they require. Security requirements vary by organisation and workload. We therefore treat controls, logging, data protection and response planning as architecture decisions, not a final checklist. Any formal compliance requirement should be defined with the organisation and its relevant advisers before implementation.
06Reliability, monitoring and operational improvement.
Reliable systems are designed for observable behaviour and controlled recovery. We can configure health signals, application logs, alerts and dashboards that help teams understand what is happening across an AWS workload. We can also plan backup, restoration and failure response according to the importance of the service and the data it holds. This makes operational expectations explicit and gives support teams a clearer path when something changes or fails. Over time, unused resources, duplicated services, unclear ownership and outdated deployment practices can add complexity. We can assess the current environment, identify practical improvements and organise work into a prioritised roadmap. That may include simplifying services, improving deployment automation, strengthening documentation, adjusting monitoring or creating clearer visibility into resource use. Recommendations are based on the workload and business context rather than a generic cloud checklist.
