Meet Emote Digital’s Senior Digital Designer and discover his top web design tips
Over the last few weeks we’ve been showing off our new team members, with profile pieces popping up for our Digital Marketing Coordinator, Copywriter and Social Media Strategist. Now it’s time to meet the rest of the team.
Lester Quong is Emote Digital’s Senior Digital Designer. With over a decade’s experience to his name in the design landscape – seven of which were spent in senior roles – Lester lives and breathes digital spaces, creating exceptional online presences with user experience at the forefront.
Without further delay let’s hear from Lester himself.
Tell us what you do at Emote:
I’m the Senior Digital Designer at Emote – developing user flows, wireframes, and visual designs.
What do you like doing for fun?
In my spare time I’m often trying my hand at various craft activities – from watercolours, to sewing and embroidery – I like to get tactile when I’m away from the computer. One time I made a cardboard bear head to mount on my wall.
What is your pet hate?
When people see goofy things other people do and say “they’ve got too much time on their hands.” You probably spent 20+ hours watching Game of Thrones – that goof decided to make a bear head out of cardboard instead.
If you could pick a super power what would it be and why?
The power to pause time, because I’d always like to spend a little more time making stuff, and I could probably watch that Game of Thrones thing. I am aware of the irony.
What are your top three design tips for 2018?
1) Put your user first – Remember to put yourself in the shoes of the end user – be that the customer browsing your eCommerce site, or admin staff managing accounts.
2) Define your site’s needs – Figure out what you need your site to do, it’s best to launch with a solid site that does a few things great than a wobbly one that does everything.
3) Quality content – Invest a little into getting quality imagery for your site. I’m not just talking about glamorous photoshoots. Great product photography can really pack a punch on the product page of an eCommerce site.
